PITCH & CONDITION
Weather : The weather in Lucknow has been very good for cricket. It is set to be warm but humid on Thursday, particularly as the evening goes on. There is no chance of rain on the forecast.
Pitch : The pitch at Lucknow is overall good for batting but the wicket leaned towards the bowling during the ODI series between these two.
Afghanistan : Rashid Khan leads a T20i squad which bears a lot of resemblance to that used in the ODI series. The biggest change will be behind the stumps, where Rahmanullah Gurbaz will take the gloves.
Afghanistan played better in the third ODI than it had in this entire series so far. Even though the result ended up going against it, Afghanistan will gain some confidence from that match.
It’s bowling also becomes more dangerous since the West Indies batsmen will have no option but to attack Rashid Khan, Mujeeb ur Rahman, and Mohammad Nabi without taking too much time to get set.
Afghanistan T20 Squad : Rashid Khan (c), Asghar Afghan, Hazratullah Zazai, Ibrahim Zadran, Javed Ahmadi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran, Karim Janat, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Fareed Ahmad Malik, Yamin Ahmadzai, Naveen-ul-Haq, Sayed Ahmad Shirzad, Mujeeb ur Rahman.
West Indies : A lot of importance is being given the Caribbean Premier League during the selection of the West Indies national team, as it should, and this is why the best performers from CPL 2019 are all in the squad for this series.
Brandon King made his ODI debut in the final game of the 50-over series and is likely to play in the T20i series too, after his fine form in the Caribbean Premier League. Hayden Walsh Jr was also in excellent form in that tournament, as was Lendl Simmons, and all three could feature in this game. Shai Hope is not part of the T20i squad.
West Indies will be looking to end their T20i losing streak, having lost all three games of their last two series. They suffered 3-0 whitewashes against both India and England, with their last win away to Bangladesh last winter.
West Indies T20 Squad : Kieron Pollard (c), Nicholas Pooran, Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, Brandon King, Fabian Allen, Jason Holder, Hayden Walsh Jr., Lendl Simmons, Khary Pierre, Sheldon Cottrell, Denesh Ramdin, Kesrick Williams, Alzarri Joseph.
The West Indian players have gotten familiar to the conditions and they are now in the format they flourish the most in.They would go in as the favourites.
