Match : IND vs AUS, 1st ODI
Tournament : Australia tour of India, 2020
Date : Tuesday, January 14, 2020
Time : 1:30 PM IST 8:00 AM GMT
Venue : Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
PITCH & CONDITION
Weather : The weather forecast in Mumbai is good for cricket, the weather is going to be slightly overcast but there is no chance of rain on the match day. The temperature will be in the range of 21-27°C throughout the day which means it won’t be that chilly.
Pitch : The pitch at Wankhede usually favors the batsmen and boundaries that are quite small. Since the ground is pretty small in terms of its dimensions, defending a score is really tough. The captain winning the toss would like to field first.
India : Rohit Sharma is back in the squad after resting for the T20 series against Sri Lanka. He will take up the opener’s position. Although KL Rahul scored a hundred in the series against West Indies, he might have to make way for Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the order, as the left-hander is still one of India’s first choice openers in 50-over cricket. Shreyas Iyer has emerged as a very good option at number four but the team is still looking for powerful options down the order.
Kuldeep Yadav has looked in better form with the ball as compared to Yuzvendra Chahal in the recent games and he is likely to be India’s second spinner, along with Ravindra Jadeja who will play as an all-rounder at no. 7. While Bumrah and Shami are expected to spearhead the pace attack, it might be toss-ups between Shardul Thakur and Sain.
India Squad: Virat Kohli (c),Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul,Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami.
Australia : The return of David Warner and Steve Smith to the side makes the Australian side a very strong squad. We expect to see Aaron Finch open the batting alongside David Warner.
Although Steve Smith batted at no. 3 for Australia in the World Cup, he might drop down to 4 in favor of Marnus Labuschagne who has been brilliant at no. 3 for Australia in Test cricket in the last few months. Ashton Turner and Alex Carey will be the finishers for the Kangaroos, while Ashton Agar might play as the spin bowling all-rounder.
Australia Squad: Aaron Finch (c), D’Arcy Short, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins, Peter Handscomb, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne, Kane Richardson, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Ashton Turner, David Warner, Adam Zampa.
It will be a thrilling contest. Both the teams are the best ODI teams in the world. Australia has brought a very strong squad to face the Indian team. India has home advantage and according to our prediction India Should Win this match.
