Match : NZ vs IND, 2nd T20I
Tournament : India tour of New Zealand, 2020
Date : Sunday, January 26, 2020
Time : 12:20 PM IST 6:50 AM GMT 7:50 PM LOCAL
Venue : Eden Park, Auckland
PITCH & CONDITION
Weather : Auckland is set to be clear and sunny throughout the day, there will be some humidity but conditions are otherwise ideal for cricket. Temperature will be around 22 degrees Celsius. The humidity will be in the high 70s.
Pitch : The Pitch at Eden Park is excellent for batting. There could be some spin. Eden Park played as expected last time out.
India : India made a amazing start to their five-match ODI series against New Zealand. The Men in Blue chased down a huge 204 with an over to spare. It also happened to be the Black Caps’ eighth defeat in their last nine matches at the very venue.
KL Rahul made 56 from 27 balls to record his tenth T20i half-century, having also starred in the recent wins against West Indies and Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli Fell just short of a 25th T20i half-century but he had already done the damage as he posted 45 from 32 balls and shared a 99-run partnership for the second wicket with KL Rahul. Jasprit Bumrah got Tim Seifert out late on and conceded just two boundaries to maintain his economical bowling record in T20 international cricket – which is all the more impressive when you consider he bowls in the powerplay and at the death.
The Indian Team may not change their winning combination.
India Squad: Rohit Sharma, Lokesh Rahul(w), Virat Kohli(c), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Manish Pandey, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Kuldeep Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar
New Zealand : New Zealand have now lost their last three T20 internationals. There was nothing wrong with their batting in the last match, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor all passing 50 in a competitive total of 203/5. Their bowlers could not stop India’s batsmen racing to victory with an over to spare, however.
The Kiwis may think about bringing in Scott Kuggelejin in place of Hamish Bennett, who didn’t have much success the other night. Tickner went for a few, but he got the prize wicket of Virat Kohli at a critical stage of the game. A lot will depend on Sodhi, who was their standout bowler the other night.
New Zealand Squad: Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson(c), Colin de Grandhomme, Ross Taylor, Tim Seifert(w), Mitchell Santner, Blair Tickner, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Hamish Bennett, Daryl Mitchell, Scott Kuggeleijn
New Zealand and India played a high-quality cricket in the opening match. Indian won the first match chasing down a huge total. India are in superb form and should win the 2nd T20 also.
