Match : NZ vs ENG, 2nd Test
Tournament : England tour of New Zealand, 2019
Date : Friday, November 29, 2019 – Tuesday, December 03, 2019
Time : 3:30 AM IST 10:00 PM GMT 11:00 AM Local
Venue : Seddon Park, Hamilton
PITCH & CONDITION
Weather : There will be some rain around on Friday and Monday, which could affect the chances of a result, but conditions are otherwise clear.
Pitch : The pitch at Seddon Park, Hamilton generally favours betting. The wet weather forecast for the opening two days might make the toss winners to bowl first.
New Zealand : New Zealand produced an impressive performance with both bat and ball to beat England by an innings and 65 runs in Mount Maunganui on a surface that clearly favoured the batsmen but the Blackcaps’ bowling unit got far more out of the pitch than the English attack.
Lockie Ferguson and Todd Astle dropped out of the squad ahead of the first match, while Matt Henry and Tom Blundell were the two players left out. With Trent Boult an injury doubt, however, Henry could come into the team for the final test.
New Zealand Squad : Tom Latham, Jeet Raval, Kane Williamson(c), Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, BJ Watling(w), Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Neil Wagner, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Todd Astle, Tom Blundell
England : England were pretty poor on their return to Test action as their batting once again let them down while their bowlers did not fare much better as they toiled for 201 overs as New Zealand amassed 615/9 and that ultimately proved too much for the tourists.
The lack of impact made by the pace bowlers was alarming and once again their weakness with the Kookaburra ball compared to the Dukes was clear to see as both Broad and Archer struggled to make an impact and they may contemplate giving a chance to Chris Woakes to freshen the attack up after such a heavy workload.
Dom Sibley made his England debut last time out, opening the batting with Rory Burns. Zak Crawley was overlooked, but could be handed a test debut in the second match of the series as England gear up for the series with South Africa. Chris Woakes, Saqib Mahmood and Matthew Parkinson were the three other unused players for the first test.
England Squad : Rory Burns, Dominic Sibley, Joe Denly, Joe Root(c), Ben Stokes, Ollie Pope, Jos Buttler(w), Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, Jack Leach, Stuart Broad, Zak Crawley, Chris Woakes, Jonny Bairstow, Saqib Mahmood, Matthew Parkinson
After a dominant first test win, New Zealand will look to wrap up a series win in the second test against England.
